Top 5 Activities at Copper Mountain in the Fall

Copper Mountain, Colorado, transforms into a haven of outdoor adventure and excitement in the fall.

With the stunning backdrop of autumn foliage and the crisp mountain air, there’s no shortage of activities. Whether you’re a passionate cyclist looking for a challenging ride, a golfer seeking the perfect putt, or someone who simply wants to unwind with fishing or hiking, Copper Mountain has something for everyone.

Comfort Condo has the benefit of being right in the thick of it all with the locations of the below activities within a short driving distance.

Without further ado, here are the Top 5 Activities that make Copper Mountain a must-visit destination in the fall

1. Biking

Biking is incredibly popular in Copper Mountain. There are bike shops right in the Center Village where you can rent bikes for a few hours up to multiple days.  Bike paths that meander from Copper Mountain to Frisco are the old railroad tracks that are covered to make for a beautiful ride along the Ten Mile Creek.

Many Copper Mountain visitors bike to get around. If biking up the hill is too much for you there are  The Summit Stage buses that offer free transportation between Frisco, Dillon, Silverthorne, Breckenridge, and Copper Mountain. You can literally bike down the mountain from Copper Mountain and put your bike on the Summit Stage bus and let them take you back up to Copper Mountain. Bike racks are available on the buses from May 1 to October 31.

Apart from the general beauty of fall foliage lining the many bike paths, there are some major events to enjoy that take place throughout the summer and fall.

One such event that takes place in July is the Triple Bypass, hosted by Team Evergreen Cycling, a popular bike club in the area. The Triple Bypass takes cyclists through Juniper, Loveland, and Vail Pass. Bikers can also take part in the Double Bypass, a shorter, less rigorous race from Georgetown to Avon. Cyclists at Comfort Condo in Copper Mountain have access to gorgeous biking paths right out the back door.

2. Hiking

The many multi-use trails in Copper Mountain are beloved for hiking.

Hiking in the area ranges in difficulty, making it a wonderful way to burn steam, exercise, or just relax in nature. The local Frisco/Copper Information Center, www.townoffrisco.com offers maps of the trails with markers to tell you the difficulty level.

For some hiking trails, visitors can buy a pass to use the ski lift. Take the lift up to the top of Copper Mountain and hike down from there.

One of our favorite hikes is in Frisco called Rainbow Lake Trailhead www.fs.usda.gov .

You are amongst a beautiful lodgepole pine forest with crystal clear streams along the way.

3. Golf

Copper Mountain is known for its plethora of beautiful golf greens close by.

If you long to putt, chip, or drive, a fall visit to the area could be just the thing to soothe your soul. Choose from courses like:

Play 18 holes of golf overlooking the pristine mountainside. Be part of nature while participating in a sport designed to enhance focus and relaxation.

4. Rafting

Rafting is among the more exciting activities in Colorado. Summit County rafting offers you the ability to combine adventure along with the beauty of seeing Colorado from the water.

Many visitors to Comfort Condo inquire about the local rafting experiences. There are several white-water rafting experiences available. From Frisco you can take an hour and a half scenic drive towards Buena Vista to Browns Canyon. You can also take a two-hour drive to go on the Royal Gorge trip. If you want to stay closer, you can go to the Clear Creek raft trip which is about an hour away.

Several local shops offer sign-up sheets to train, rent equipment, and participate in a rafting adventure.

Some rafting companies to choose from include:

Choose your intensity and level of ability from beginner to expert. Local guides will walk you through each course, so you understand the type of experience you can expect.

5. Fishing

Fishing in Copper Mountain is a real treat in the fall.
